Great Expectations!
Even as a child i did not know what are the heights that I have to reach! Today when I am an adult i still do not know what are the heights my parents want me to reach upto. I always was an average performer or if I go by statistical calculations, I was always just a little above average. I never was insincere, though, for sure, I could have put in a little more overt attention to studies. But nature-nurture theory would still be at its work.
While I was working as school psychologist, I came across parents who would often complain about the performance of their ward, which was never upto "their expectation". Well I do appreciate parents having a positive attitude towards improving upon it, but sometimes they are unreasonable.
My teachers would often say "all have been gifted with same brains" i would disagree. I beleive, neither does each have the same gray matter, nor equal oppurtunities. Besides this, the feedback of parents is of great value to the child, positive criticism will always be taken as a motivator. Sometimes parents would forget that unconditional love is something a child should never be deprived of. Acceptance suddenly turns into rejection seeing the report card!
I have faced it, and have felt bad about it. But I just forget the hurt, when my sister would tell me, "we know you can do better if you stop being complacent".

MEMORY

I still remember
when as a child
I used to go
On a walk
At the break of dawn
By the river side,
On a high built bridge
Down i used to peep
And in the river
Who fascinated me most
Was the Moon,
Staring at her face
In that mirror
Appreciating its beauty,
ignoring the spots.
And the starry, glimmering robe she wore
And how it was kept at still, unperturbed
Till i found
A stone to throw
And in the ripples
The robe would float,
No sooner would I realise,
My companions had reached too far.
In the hurry to catch them
Iwould forget to bid adeau
To my friend Moonface,
And every next morning
I would run quicklyover the bridge,
Leaving al my companybehind
To take a longer look
At the smug beauty.

No more do I go for a walk at dawn....
For the nights have become longer,
And i meet my friend at night
And sit for hours with her
With no hurry to catch others
With no fear of being left behind,
I find her more beautiful than ever.
In her companyI love to keep awake
And think of "someone"so close to my heart,
And talk to my friend about that someone
Whose presence has brought in
My life's happiest phase.

Now when in daytime
I walk past that river
And look at the waters
Sunrays turning it all to a glimmer
And the ferryman
Spreading their nets on the river's breast.
The ripples still make the water to shake,
And on the banks the colours flying on ropes
The washerman has brought down
the beauty of rainbow.

The moon, the sunrays,
The ferryman, the vibrance of rainbow,
All I shall meet
Whenever over that bridge I shall go.
And peep down that river
And meet all the Beauties
I always shall adore!
